The basic technical characteristics of a landfill site include the provision of an adequately dimensioned and functional drainage system that collects and drains the leachate. Often the pipes are strongly constricted in cross-section due to hardened deposits and incrustations. One reason for the sometimes rapidly advancing incrustation process, caused by carbonates and sulphides, is also metabolic processes of anaerobic bacteria in the pipe and in the pipe zone.
The importance of systematic high-pressure cleaning and subsequent optical inspection is of great importance and must be optimised for the extreme pipe lengths. This work is indispensable for the functionality of a landfill site and for the protection of our groundwater.
